[The following mail message went to the community mail list on 3/7/2013. It’s here for historical purposes; nothing was posted on the web for this gathering.]
I apologize for a brief and belated post. On Sunday, I’d like to continue the discussion on Samma Kammanta, Correct Action, focusing on the kind of actions we can deliberately engage in to help make our lives better and our community and our world a better place. Two readings, if you have time to get to them:
A page of excerpts from the suttas on the subject of Samma Kammanta, from Access to Insight.
The section on Right Speech, Right Action and Right Livelihood from Bhikkhu Bodhi’s short book on the Superior Eightfold Path.
Remember that we are meeting Sunday at our house … at 4:00 PM. We’ll meet here next week as well–that will be our last gathering before we leave for the West Coast. I’m making progress on setting up a web community, and I’ll be filling you in with more shortly. I’m moving very slowly and deliberately with this, so that it won’t be a confusing or frustrating experience; thanks for bearing with me.
